Today, October 5 2021, Windows 11 is available for public download
Windows 11 has been released
Today is the day where Microsoft release their next client operating system: Windows 11
Windows 11 was announced this summer, but now the waiting is over, and soon Windows 11 will replace Windows 10 on all new computers.
Download Windows 11
You can go ahead and download Windows 11 here. There are 3 download options:
- Windows 11 Installation Assistant
- Create Windows 11 Installation Media
- Download Windows 11 Disk Image (ISO)
Are your computer ready for Windows 11?
You could also start by downloading the PC Health Check app, that check if your current computer is compatible to run Windows 11. It might save you for a lot of frustration and tell if your hardware is not meeting up to the hardware requirements for Windows 11. It will tell you if you have the required TPM 2.0 chip and if your CPU is supported for Windows 11. It will tell you if you are ready to move on with the installation or of you need to upgrade your hardware first.
Testing on Hyper-V
This morning I downloaded the Windows 11 ISO file to test the new release. I am running Windows 10 on my desktop computer but have installed Hyper-V to test other operating systems. As always, I created a new virtual computer to Install and test Windows 11, but I ran in to a problem that my Virtual computer wasn’t compatible with Windows 11?
It turned out that I needed to enable TPM on the virtual computer as shown below. After that I was able to install Windows 11 without any future problems.
Below you can see some of the screenshots from my test install of Windows 11. It was installed as a virtual Hyper-V machine:
